Robin Durand
architect
lecturer at Umeå School of Architecture
based in Umeå, northern Sweden.
Robin Durand studied architecture in France and Belgium. After spending several years in award-winning European offices, he now runs an independent practice in Umeå, Sweden, in parallel to his lecturing at Umeå School of Architecture.
The practice sets a focus on the narrative as the foundation of any project. Every commission is seen as an opportunity to develop a concept in parallel to the context. It is supported by a strategy framed together with the client and it develops into a layered design solution.
The everyday and existing situations are the base material within which quality and aesthetics are to be revealed. Sustainable use of what we have is key. This method has been experimented in a wide range of scales, from research projects to complex renovations, competitions and design of art exhibitions for museum spaces.
